Dorset's Jurassic Coast

The beaches, cliffs, rocks and harbours of Dorset's Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

Dorset's Jurassic Coast runs from Purbeck in the east to Lyme Regis in the west. It is part of England's first natural World Heritage Site and was Chartered by UNESCO in 2001.

World Heritage status was awarded to this part of England's coastline as it depicts many of the Earth's formative years. Carefully arranged by Mother Nature for our enjoyment is a display that spans the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
